Dark Sky Land, Inc a non-profit corporation focused on preserving New Mexico’s Night Ecology.

Our mission is to rapidly preserve a 600-mile Astronomical-Wildlife corridor from the hidden impact of light pollution’s existential threat to astronomy, human health, biodiversity, bird migration and wilderness.

The Dark Sky Land Astro-Wildlife Corridor is an interdisciplinary-environmental initiative dedicated to night ecology-wilderness conservation in an already exceptionally wild and dark New Mexico region.

DSL’s interdisciplinary background and approach connects space science, art, sky, land, and people to the cosmos and the natural world. A synergetic network coming together to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of the night, the life that depends on it and how might we invent new ways of inhabiting the world.

Our strategy is to introduce a futuristic model of interdisciplinary collaborations, which create knowledge, expands consciousness, imagination, sustainability, communities and our connection to the cosmos.

Launched in 2023, Dark Sky Land is growing from a series of Interdisciplinary collaborative projects with local groups, individuals and organizations actively taking action to protect New Mexico’s National Forests, Wildlife, Biodiversity, Native Wisdom, Silence, the Ancestral Night.

We are currently working hand-in-hand with the New Mexico DarkSky International Chapter, to nominate new DarkSky International Parks-Sanctuaries-Places-Communities, as well as re-introducing the New Mexico Dark Sky Protection Act of (1999) to the Legislature in 2025.
